Melanie Rosen
Psy.D

Clinical Psychology Fellow

Melanie specializes in helping adults and adolescents navigate complex emotional experiences, personality disorders (including borderline personality disorder), anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, suicidality, and self-harm. Her style is both compassionate and direct, offering steady support while encouraging her clients to work toward meaningful growth and lasting change. Melanie works together with her clients to explore their core values, build more satisfying lives, and realize their full potential.

Melanie’s work is both rooted in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and tailored to meet each client’s unique needs. She also supports individuals through life transitions, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. A proud advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, Melanie provides validating, empowering, and gender-affirming care. In addition to individual therapy, Melanie is skilled in leading DBT skills groups for adults, adolescents, and families. She is passionate about helping clients build practical tools that foster resilience and emotional well-being.

Melanie earned her Psy.D. from Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) and her M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Northwell Health’s Long Island Jewish Medical Center and has received years of supervision and training from leaders in the field. Her research has focused on suicide prevention, including means reduction and firearm safety, the cognitive underpinnings of suicidality, and the efficacy of DBT.

Outside of her clinical work, Melanie enjoys cooking, skiing, traveling, and hiking. She lives with her two beloved black cats, Lailah and Peanut, who occasionally make surprise cameos during virtual sessions.
